“The Rediscovery of Icons in the Orthodox Church”
The Fellowship of St Alban and St Sergius together with Pusey House invite to the Zernov Lecture 2015 by the Revd Professor Andrew Louth on the topic “The Rediscovery of Icons in the Orthodox Church”, Wednesday 11 February, 6pm at Pusey House (St Giles, Oxford OX1 3LZ).
Fr Andrew Louth is one of the leading Orthodox theologians, Professor Emeritus of Patristic and Byzantine Studies at Durham University. He is an acclaimed author of classic works on philosophy and theology, including “The Origins of the Christian Mystical Tradition: From Plato to Denys” (1983), “St John Damascene: Tradition and Originality in Byzantine Theology” (2004), “Greek East and Latin West: The Church, AD 681-1071” (2007), “Maximus the Confessor” (2013) and many others. He is a priest in the Russian Orthodox Diocese of Sourozh, serving the parish in Durham.
An Orthodox memorial prayer will be said at 5.45pm for the founders and benefactors of the House of St Gregory and St Macrina, the St Theosevia Centre and the Fellowship of St Alban and St Sergius.
